I found a interesting article of Mexico’s corrupt political leaders being killed and murdered on the streets because of drug trafficking. The article explains how the crime is being swept from the streets of Mexico onto political servants and institutions such as city halls. It is clear that “La famille michoacana” a drug group is undermining the government system by abducting and creating very dramatic murder scenes such as

When congressional candidate Gustavo Bucio Rodriguez was slain at his gasoline station last month, authorities went out of their way to convince political leaders that he was the victim of common crime, showing them a surveillance tape of the killing by a lone gunman.

If i were a passerby witnessing something like this it would definitely break my faith in regime especially when crimes are committed by those who are suppose to be guiding us. You can never feel safe, the political elites can’t be trusted and are being killed one by one it’s like a nightmare. Things are getting out of hand and right now those people who have power and run the town are your drug dealers down the road.

Canada’s government is made up of three levels of government the lower house, upper house, and the sovereign. The upper house consists of the senate which is arguably one of the most controversial luxuries of Canada. I honestly do not find the senate to be deemed necessary for Canada as it does not play a very important role. If anything, to me the senate just consists of elderly men who gather to place a second opinion on certain bill that pass through the bill making system. They have never really openly rejected a billing and as far as i know and we the tax payers are paying out of our own pockets for a group we did not even elect. They are making millions of dollars when the middle man is working twice as hard and contributing way more than they are. Stephen Harper also openly agrees if we do not reform the senate it should “vanish” from Canada’s upper house.

Harper suggested that if he can’t reform the upper chamber, he would like to see it disappear from Canada’s parliamentary system.

“Canadians understand that our Senate, as it stands today, must either change or — like the old upper houses of our provinces — vanish.”

To be honest i don’t like seniors running the government system, its true they have acquired more knowledge than many of their younger generation, but they show less concern toward residual issues that will arise after they are long dead, making most politicians corrupt in any case. They are more focused on “here and now and ask questions later” philosophy. I’m hoping in the future there will be more younger politicians in government and now with the internet becoming a huge factor youth can now get involved.

I recently read a Canadian article involving the government slashing the federal budget targeted for April and i was not amused. The reason for the cuts was of course to bring Canada farther from dept. Apparently the financial executives have not disclosed any details of which department and agencies are to be cut leaving many of them in the dark for months as a result many Canadian federal servants are waiting in anxiety. The benefits of the cuts will go toward other services as improving old age security programs other programs not specified. This is a good example of the government making decisions on regulating money, but i find it interesting how they are suppose to administer institutions but because of these cuts they are taking that away. We pay so many taxes and they still need to find ways to regulate money and not only that but they have the decision to keep details away from the people who they are giving the axe to leaving them jobless and unemployed. It’s almost as if they were playing playing Russian roulette amongst each other at least if your going to make slashes do it without the tension please.

Canadian Constitution Torture

Posted: February 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

The death sentence should be applied in our constitution because it is a much more efficient this way. We have prisoners who have committed the most heinous of crimes and have them locked up for life when in reality it is just costing us more. Canadian taxes are being used to pay for prisons and those things are far from cheap. Money could be used on paying for health institutions and educational services which is much more beneficial. Why have someone living in confinement only to be looked after by people with better things to do. The prisons these days also have a lot of luxuries we do not even know about, such as health care and computers inside their cells it is not as strict as we think. There are arguments that a life sentencing is used in order for criminals to think about their entire life mistake in confinement, but i do not believe it is worth the time and effort of the prison staff.

Here is an an article i read where a man robbed a bank in order to benefit from the health care in prison in America.  Prison life is looking good these days. especially when they aren’t the ones paying for it.

I took the political compass test to my 58 year old father and unsurprisingly our results were pretty close with maybe a few questions being deviated. I scored -4.00 for economics and -3.08 for libertarian,  he scored -4.88 left for economics and -0.21, so he was in the middle of authoritarian and libertarian. I was watching him do the test, but i kept my thoughts to myself when he was making his choices. I do not find the results surprising, because i had an idea that some of my fathers values were reflected on me. Growing up I’d always ask him about political issues and what his standpoint was and then we would have an argument but if he made legitimate points i would adopt his perception to my own. I’m pretty sure if this test was developed during his earlier years and he would have scored differently before raising me.

Globalization is certainly taking over nationalism in my view. In order for nationalism to work there has to be stability between the nation itself whether economically stable or having a united political understanding among different groups to form a nation. It is very difficult to single out a nation because of the overwhelming power of globalization these days. America although thought of as an independent and free nation must still rely on China for economic growth in the trade markets and imports of goods. There is a deep relationship between the two countries and it’s hard to see one without the other.

The lopsided nature of trade and financial flows between the U.S. and China has complicated this relationship, tightening the economic entanglements between the two economies and making them more contentious. The U.S. receives a large volume of low-cost imports from China and has also gotten help in financing a significant part of its budget and current account deficits. China remains quite dependent on U.S. export markets and continues to look to U.S. Treasury bond markets to park a large portion of its rapidly rising stock of foreign exchange reserves.

The two countries are closely knit economically because of globalization it is indeed coming to a peak where it is hard to separate them into two nations and it is beginning to run into a grey area. This is only one example of globalization but also between Canada and U.S the same type of problem is arising too beyond the borders. Globalization has not killed nationalism but is devouring it slowly

Multiculturalism is a key definition of Canadian culture and is usually what people think to when asked to explain the Canadian identity, but I keep asking myself is it working for us. Angela Markel the chancellor of Germany argues that it is not but rather is “Dead”. Multiculturalism is a very touchy subject and she does raise some interesting arguments as to why it is not working. I can’t help but contrast Canada’s concept with that of Germany as it is separating our ideas of what it is to be Canadian. Canada promotes immigration to stimulate the population as well as the economy but as a nation itself it does not enforce requirements when coming to the country as a result people are seen in the streets not knowing a single word of english, but rather stumbling around asking for directions.
